Turkish bombardment killed many tourist in Kurdistan

Roni Alasor - 20 July  2022 - Middle East Diplomatic - The islamist Turkish state continues its terror attacks and bombardements targeting civilians in all parts of Kurdistan territories. In the recent years, at the least 100 civilians killed in the Federal Kurdistan, in Rojava/NES and in the occupied part of the North Kurdistan regions. According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the turkish islamist state, in the cooperations with the islamist-terror groups in Syria is also behind the daily violation, terror, kidnaping and rapes of over 100 women in Kurdish region Afrin. Several dozens of the Kurdish political parties and NGO`s made dozens of urgent calls to the international committe against turkish violations and crimes against the international law, but so long UN, USA, EU and NATO keep its deadly silent, Turkey is member of the NATO.

On Wednesday 20 of July 2022, the islamist Turkish state bombardment struck a tourist resort in Duhok’s Zakho district in the Federal Kurdistan Region (KRG) killed at the least 9 tourists and injured around 30. Turkey "jusify" its violation and terror by using PKK as usual to target the Kurds. But the targeted places are not the military conflict zone, its touristic area.

President of Kurdistan Region Nechirvan Barzani and the Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani condemned the latest bombardement and call to Turkish state to stop its attacks continue in years.

“The repeated bombings and continued fighting between the Turkish army and PKK fighters on the borders has been completely rejected and unacceptable,” the President said, adding that such attacks harm the security and stability of the Kurdistan Region.

Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani underlined that Federal Kurdistan region “has been repeatedly dragged into violence by the infighting between Turkey and PKK. It has cost our citizens unnecessary pain, suffering and anxiety. This has to end."

Kurdistan Democratic Party leader Masoud Barzani said that “measures should be taken so incidents like the deadly Zakho bombardment are not repeated, while calling on the KRG and the Iraqi federal government to cooperate and find a “serious and fundamental” solution

United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) also condemned the bombardment in a statement, calling for “thorough investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the attack,” and urging for Iraq’s sovereignty to be respected.
