EU Renew Ceasefire of Gaza War
Roni Alasor / 8th October 2024 - Middle East Diplomatic - EU renew ceasefire calls on first anniversary of Gaza war after that Hamas attacked Israel on 7th October 2023. The war between Israel, Iranian supported Hamas and Hezbollah continues and worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza and in Lebanon.
Also the EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said the Hamas attacks, which saw 1,200 Israelis killed and 250 others taken hostage, were an example of "unspeakable savagery" which could not be justified.
She condemned the Hamas attacks, and reiterating the EU’s solidarity with all victims of the violence. She called for an immediate ceasefire and the unconditional release of the remaining Israeli hostages in Gaza, while highlighting the worsening humanitarian crisis in the area.
Von der Leyen also emphasized the EU`s commitment to mobilizing financial and humanitarian aid for Palestinians, both in Gaza and Lebanon.
"The European Union stands with all the innocent people whose lives have been shattered to the core since that fateful day," she said in a statement.
